Short version: your progress lives in your own browser, we do not sell anything about you, and there is no account to create.

What stays in your browser

Which days you have finished, your review deck schedule, and whether you have turned the pinyin or the tone colours off. All of it is kept in this browser's local storage on your own device. It is not sent to us and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser data deletes it, and there is no copy anywhere else.

What we collect

Server logs, kept by our hosting provider, which record requests to the site in the ordinary way: the page requested, the time, a truncated address and the browser string. They are used to see whether the site is working and to count visits. We do not run advertising trackers, we do not build profiles, and we do not sell or share data with data brokers.

If you email us, we keep the email so we can reply to it. That is the only personal data we hold on purpose.

Cookies

The site sets no cookies of its own. Local storage is not a cookie and is never sent to a server, which is why there is no banner asking you to agree to anything.

Other companies involved

• Our hosting provider serves the pages and keeps the request logs described above.
• Google Fonts serves the typeface. Requests to it carry your address, in the ordinary way of any request to another site.
• Pronunciation playback uses the speech voice built into your own device. Nothing is sent to us, and whether anything leaves your device depends on your operating system.

When payments open, a payment provider will handle card details. We will never hold card numbers ourselves, and this page will be updated before that happens.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to a regulator. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office. Since almost everything is on your device, the answer to the first question is usually very short.

The site is written for adults and older teenagers. We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 13.
